CWU Dangerous Dogs Campaign Petition Launched
As previously reported by Unionsafety, the CWU in conjunction with other organisations is continueing its campaign on dangerous dogs legislation via an on-line e-petition to the government. Below is the text and pic from the CWU's latest leaflet urging the public to sign the petition:
These people have all been savagely attacked by dogs.
Are they criminals? Are they burglars? Are they trespassers with criminal
intent? No, they’re all postal delivery workers attacked whilst doing their jobs serving the public.
Attacks like these are happening every day, but all too often, the law takes no action.
When dog attacks take place on private property, the law makes no distinction between criminal trespassers and workers serving the public.
The Communication Workers Union, which represents postal and telecoms workers in the UK, has been campaigning for new and effective UK-wide dog control laws that apply everywhere including private property.
Prime Minister David Cameron promised to change this law:
"We support extending dangerous dogs law to cover all places including private property."
David Cameron, April 2010
We urge him to act now.
Please sign the Downing Street Petition to promote responsible dog ownership and to help stop attacks happening.
